Jeremy Hallum

School Principal

Jeremy is a respected education leader with a track record of success that spans over two decades. Born and raised in England, he completed his higher education at Oxford University in 1996, earning a degree in Education.

After a decade of teaching, Jeremy went on to obtain his National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) in 2006, leading to his appointment as headteacher of a school in Essex, England. Over the next 12 years, he served as the head of two schools, consistently achieving outstanding academic results above the national standard.

Jeremy's expertise and reputation for success made him a sought-after mentor for new headteachers, and he successfully guided 10 new leaders. Additionally, he worked as an advisory headteacher, supporting failing schools and helping to improve academic standards.

In 2018, Jeremy joined GEMS Education as the Founding Whole School Vice Principal of GEMS Founders School – Al Mizhar, a role in which he was responsible for managing the academic and pastoral success of all students. Under his leadership, the school achieved its highest rating of ‘Good’ by the DSIB, with ‘Very Good’ features, and a BSO inspection rating of ‘Good’ with five ‘Outstanding’ aspects, including leadership.

In addition to his work at GEMS, Jeremy formed and led the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) teaching and learning network, promoting best practice in over 150 schools across the Middle East. He also completed his school inspection accreditation, qualifying him to serve as a British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspector.

In his newly appointed leadership position as Founding Principal and CEO of GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha, Jeremy will be working to realise the school’s vision to become ‘a sustainable and inclusive community hub, nurturing future leaders”, built on a foundation of curiosity, confidence, creativity, kindness, and respect.

With his wealth of experience and the support of an accomplished team of UK-trained teachers, Jeremy is looking forward to opening GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha in September 2023 and delivering the highest quality education for its community.
