Ciara Kirby
Director of Sports
Ciara Kirby is the Director of Sport at GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha, where she leads the school's sporting vision, physical education programme, and competitive athletics. Having joined the school in 2023 as a Secondary PE Teacher, Ciara has played a key role in developing an inclusive, high-performing sports culture and inspiring students to lead active, healthy lifestyles.
Originally from Birmingham, England, Ciara began her teaching career in the UK before relocating to the UAE in 2020. She spent three years teaching in Abu Dhabi before moving to Dubai to join the Metropole Mavericks. She also holds a Master's Degree in Teaching Studies, reflecting her commitment to educational excellence and continuous professional growth.
Passionate about the power of sport, Ciara believes physical education extends far beyond the classroom. She is dedicated to helping every student discover a form of physical activity they enjoy, recognising that participation in sport builds confidence, resilience, teamwork, and lifelong wellbeing.
Outside of school, Ciara enjoys staying active through skiing, golf, running, and fitness, and has a genuine love for the outdoors. Her enthusiasm, leadership, and commitment to student development continue to shape an ambitious sporting programme that encourages every learner to thrive both on and off the field.
