Rose-Marie Begley
Primary Welfare Leader
Rose-Marie, a UK-trained educator, brings over 13 years of teaching experience and a deep-rooted passion for pastoral care and student wellbeing. Her journey into education began 18 years ago, teaching English in Spain, before gaining her degree in Primary Education. During her degree years, Rose-Marie also gained valuable international teaching experience in South Africa, working in both a primary school and a special needs setting. These formative experiences shaped her global outlook and ignited her dedication to inclusive, compassionate education.
Within her first three years of teaching in Nottingham, she took on pastoral leadership responsibilities, laying the foundation for a career focused on nurturing student wellbeing and emotional development. Now, as Assistant Head Teacher at GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha, she proudly leads the school’s pastoral care strategy, ensuring every child feels safe, supported and empowered to thrive both personally and academically.
Rose-Marie’s educational philosophy centres on the belief that true success stems from happiness, belonging and strong relationships. She champions collaboration among the entire team at MTW while ensuring that every child feels seen, valued and supported. When these elements are in place, she believes, learning flows naturally and achievement follows.
Now in her second year at GEMS Metropole Al Waha, Rose-Marie feels privileged to contribute to the continued growth and success of the school. Her focus is on fostering a culture where all students are challenged yet nurtured—growing confidently in a safe space that allows them to flourish as individuals.
Living in the UAE for the past eight years with her husband and son, who was born in Dubai, Rose-Marie has embraced the opportunity to explore both the rich diversity of the Emirates and the wider world from this dynamic hub. As a family, they love revisiting cherished destinations and discovering new ones—particularly enjoying all that the UAE has to offer during the cooler months. Rose-Marie is excited to continue making a meaningful impact at Metropole Al Waha through her unwavering commitment to care, connection and community.
