Marium Rafiq

Head of Inclusion

Marium Rafiq is an experienced and passionate inclusion leader with over 12 years of teaching and leadership experience across the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. As Head of Inclusion at GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha, she is committed to creating a school culture where every learner feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Throughout her career, Marium has championed inclusive education, believing that the role of a school is not to ask students to fit into a system, but to create an environment that embraces, celebrates, and supports every learner. Having led inclusion teams and worked closely with students, families, and educators from diverse backgrounds, she understands that true inclusion is built through strong partnerships, empathy, and a shared commitment to ensuring every child belongs.

Marium is a passionate advocate for neurodiversity and additional needs, recognising the unique strengths and perspectives every student brings to the school community. She believes that inclusion is more than a department or a programme—it is a mindset that shapes every classroom, every relationship, and every opportunity. By embedding inclusive practices across all aspects of school life, she strives to create an environment where differences are celebrated and every learner can thrive.

As Head of Inclusion, Marium looks forward to working collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues to continue strengthening MTW's inclusive culture. Through innovation, compassion, and high expectations, she is dedicated to ensuring every student feels seen, heard, respected, and inspired to succeed while helping to embed the school's "Be a GEM" values throughout the community.

Outside of school, Marium enjoys spending time with her family and remains actively engaged in professional learning and initiatives that advance inclusive education, ensuring she continues to advocate for the very best outcomes for every learner.
