
Nazmin Abdullah
Head of Year 11
Nazmin Abdullah is the Head of Year 11 at GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha, bringing extensive experience in science education, pastoral leadership, and student development. Originally from Burton-on-Trent in the UK, Nazmin holds a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and Microbiology from Staffordshire University and completed her PGCE in Secondary Science at the University of Derby.
With experience teaching both primary and secondary science, Nazmin has specialised in the British Curriculum and BTEC since moving to London in 2012. Throughout her career, she has held a range of leadership positions, including Head of Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 Coordinator, and mentor to trainee teachers. She is passionate about creating engaging learning environments that encourage curiosity, resilience, and academic excellence.
As Head of Year 11, Nazmin is committed to supporting students through the crucial final stage of their secondary education. She works closely with students, families, and colleagues to ensure every learner feels supported, challenged, and equipped with the confidence and skills needed to achieve success in their GCSE examinations and beyond.
Beyond the classroom, Nazmin founded Science Club, an initiative offering hands-on science experiences for young learners, reflecting her belief in making education accessible, engaging, and inspiring. A proud mother of three, she enjoys travelling, keeping active, cooking, and fundraising for charitable causes, including cancer research. Her enthusiasm, collaborative approach, and dedication to student success continue to make a positive impact across the GEMS Metropole community.
